I Was Devastated
Nov 13, 2002

My husband & I found out in February that I was pregnant with our first child. We have been married for 3 years and was very excited about being pregnant. My due date was Thanksgiving Day. On the 23rd of May I had gone home from work for lunch (I was 13 wks). Before I left the house to come back to work I had gone the the bathroom & found that I was bleeding. I never had any pain, cramps, or any sign that something was going wrong. I called the dr. & they worked me in. My husband came home from work to go with me. The dr. took an ultrasound & said he could not see a heartbeat. The baby was the size of a 9wk old baby instead of a 13wk old baby. I was devistated. I had a d & c the next morning. I've had a very hard time dealing with this. To top it all off, my (one & only)little Brother called me at work about 2 months after my miscarrage to tell me that he & my Sister-in-Law were pregnant with their first child. I was very happy but then again very hurt & upset. The Thanksgiving Holiday is 2 wks away & I'm not handling things very well. My husband & I have decided to stay home Thanksgiving to be together & to protect my emotions in front of faimly. I live about 1hr & 1/2 away from my family & haven't seen my Sister-in-Law yet (she is now 6 mo) & I'm a little afraid of how I will react seeing her pregnant. Does anyone have any advice for me or at least give me some comfort?
