Lost Expectations
Nov 07, 2002

I went to the doctors office yesterday to have an ultrasound done, fully expecting to see the heartbeat and to be told that everything was normal. The technician said that the fetus stopped growing at nine weeks (I should be 12 weeks) and she couldn't find a heartbeat. I was confused, my husband asked what that meant, but she wanted to go and get the doctor. He confirmed that I had a miscarriage. So, tomorrow I'll be going to get the D&C done as outpatient surgery. I never expected to go through anything like this. After all, I have a healthy 15 month old, so why wouldn't my other pregnancies turn out the same?? I don't seem to stop crying. My husband and I just held each other last night and cried together. I feel lost, but this website has been a great help. I know I'm not the only one to have had this happen to. We've told mostly everyone, but they don't know what to say. It's as if I'm waiting for someone to say something that will make me feel better. Thanks for listening.
