She Was My Daughter, My Best Friend
Sep 09, 2002

Karissa, my 34 year old daughter was killed in an automobile accident 4/19/2002. My life will never be the same as she was my daughter/best friend. Karissa was stolen from me, her 3 sons 16,15,7 and her husband.
She was on her way home from her job as a nurse assistant on a beautiful sunny spring afternoon. I was on my way to visit and take my grandsons home for the weekend as we lived 1 hour apart. As I approched her home town there was an accident on the road. I went to the side road to bypass it and pulled into her drive. She was not home and my mother instintct's sent me toward the accident. As I saw the car and knew it was her's. The police would not let me go to her. A very young man told me your daughter is dead and my whole world collapsed. I asked about my grandson and was told that they didn't know yet if he was in the car. Thank God he was still at daycare. I was left there sitting on the side of the road for over 2 hours while they removed her body from the wreck. I so needed to hold her hand as I was sure her spirit may have still been there with her. The young man drove east in the west lane of a 2 lane highway and hit her head on. He had injury but was not even ticketed.

Toooo hard today Barbara
