Untitled by SeanC

I have been submitting poetry that I have written as a release since my 30 year old son died of a heroin overdose. I wanted to share a poem he wrote. It is untitled.

SeanC

When was the last time everything was ok
When your head was silent
when you were at peace-with yourself-with others
When the sun would shine
And you didn't have to force yourself
To go out and face the day
It seems like so long ago
Now everything is a walking nightmare
You doubt your every move-every thought
You feel most alone in a room full of people
You stand and watch them
They amaze you-You often wonder what it
Would be like to be them
To be so sure of ones self
To maintain and live-not just survive
The price of life seems to be getting higher
You check your pockets
Only to find that you have nothing
Only lint
And the holes in your shoes
On your feet
