God's Promise

There is a power to sustain us
When we are ravaged by grief.
God is our only refuge
A constant protector is He.
Incessantly flowing tears
A hurt tearing at my insides.
Grief pounds away with a fury
And I retreat into myself.
Irrational thoughts plague me.
I cut myself off from friends.
Some would be there to support me.
Why can't I let them in?
I am cut adrift in a sea of pain.
When will I reach the shore?
When will I find healing
And live life free from pain?
God has promised to be with us.
How can I question His love?
Only he can understand my emotions.
Only He can feel my pain.
When the storm clouds threaten
I go to God, my light and salvation.
He will watch over me
And soothe my heart of pain.
Gods' love knows no ending.
He weeps for our pain.
No burden is too heavy.
He holds me safe under His wings.
