A Silent Phone
LindaC

The phone is so quiet these days.
I sit and pray it will ring.
I am so very lonely
I am in so much pain

How will you deal with my feelings?
Will you quietly walk away?
Will you pretend this hasn't happened?
Will you ever call again?

It is easier to avoid me
Than to acknowledge the depth of my loss.
Far easier to never call me
You can avoid the tears I cry.

I try to be strong and brave for my friends
But the days go slowly by.
Your lives go on and are filled with joy.
Mine is filled with only despair.

A simple phone call can mean so much
When your life is filled with pain.
To know that others are thinking of you
Gives comfort to a grieving heart.

The phone once constantly ringing
Now is strangely still.
I sit in a very quiet house
And wait for the phone to ring.
