A Parent's Worst Nightmare
Sep 06, 2002

A Parent's Worst Nightmare
LindaC

It is a parent's worst nightmare
The death of a child
You wake with an aching heart
To realize it is not a dream
But cold, cruel reality

Nothing else exists in your world
Death is the only subject you study these days
You could get an A in this class
Achievemnet is measured in how you get through a day
How many times you have cried

I did not choose to take this course
it is a school I did not wish to attend
Yet, here I am
Wondering how long till I graduate
And then the fear, will I graduate

I study my grief, trying to see if I am normal
Where should I be at this stage
Is this a normal feeling
When will I feel better
When will my life be in control again

Yes, a parents' worst nightmare
And I must wake and live with its' reality
